Annual Boiler Service

I had my boiler serviced today. Apparently there’s a hole in the flue so the engineer says it is unsafe. It’s now been condemned. It’s had the death sentence. It’s time is well and truly up. Luckily I have electric heaters, not that I’m going to need them at the moment. I hope I won’t have to use them anyway. I also have an electric switch to the hot water cylinder so I have hot water, and an electric shower. Compared to other people in this position I am very lucky.

It will be nice to have a new boiler. I don’t look forward to the work being done. It’s a big job installing a boiler. The engineer says that the pipework should be ok. He thinks that they’ll only need to change the boiler, thermostatic valves on the radiators, and he suggests a new hot water cylinder.

I’m dreading the mess. I hate having to empty the airing cupboard. I dislike having to move my things so that work can be done. I’d prefer not to have strange people walking around my house in dirty shoes. I don’t want to use my annual leave to stay in while work is being done. I’m most definitely not looking to this work.
