I was right. Day after bank holiday we get some strange ones calling us!
Today I had a customer ringing to let us know that her parent had sadly passed away. She wanted to continue with the policy for a short time before going abroad. All very well and good. She owned the property, etc. Everything in order.
I explained that the policy was due for renewal so she would have to pay for it to continue. Well she had every excuse under the sun. She couldn’t do a direct debit because she had an overseas bank account. She didn’t want to give a card payment because it would take the full amount. She only wanted the policy for a further couple of months. ‘Is there nothing you can do?’ she pleaded.
Well there was nothing else for it. I told her straight the policy wasn’t free. If she wanted it she would have to pay for it. I think she was hoping that I would feel sorry for her because of the situation.
Of course I care. It would be a very callous individual who wouldn’t feel sympathy for someone on the loss of a parent. But it doesn’t mean that they get something for free. Nor should they try. Cheeky b*tch!
