I’ve had a nice holiday in bonnie Scotland this week. Well away from the call centre. 1 1/2 hour travelling on the plane so not too bad. I couldn’t bear the thought of 12 hours on a coach or 10 hours on the train.
I stayed with a friend in Aberdeenshire. What a beautiful place!
My friend – from school days – lives in a lovely house with woodland at the back. I could watch wild rabbits running around, with a multitude of colourful birds, and wild deer.
I went to see the mysterious Loch Ness while I was there. Of course Nessie exists. I have the proof…
Scotland is really beautiful. Some quirky bridges, lovely rivers, rolling mountains and lots of healthy living – at least it was where I was staying.
If you haven’t been up there I would recommend it.
So a tourist has been arrested for stripping on a sacred mountain. It wasn’t me. Apparently a group of people on holiday in Malaysia decided to strip off and take a photo after climbing a sacred mountain. The Malaysian authorities have arrested one woman and searching for six other people.
They should have been more respectful, yes. But some people in Malaysia are saying that this episode of stripping off is what caused the earthquakes in Nepal. Now, I’m not at all denigrating their beliefs. But if something like this caused the earthquakes then shouldn’t they be looking at the festival of Gadhimai in Nepal. This is where thousands of animals are butchered each year to the Goddess Gadhimai.
The animals are corralled in a field and men armed with machetes enter the field and butcher the terrified animals. Surely this act of death and destruction is far worse than a group of people stripping off. Does a Goddess – a mother – want people butchering her children?
I believe in karma. What goes around comes around. Surely if anything was responsible for the earthquakes then this barbaric act was it.
This last week I’ve been on holiday.
It was nice not to be at work. Nice not speaking to grumpy customers. Nice not dealing with complaints. Nice not to hear all the moans and groans about work. Nice to have time to myself. Nice to be with the family. But now it’s ended 😦
I had a weeks sojurn down Brean Sands with the family. Managed to see my parents who live in Bridgwater too. Lots of money spent.
The cats went to the cattery. My cat and our little stray, Star, who is now living with my daughter. They were both glad to be home. Especially my cat, Smudge, who apparently spent most of the week hiding under the carpet in his enclosure.
We all felt guilty about leaving the cats but knowing where they were, and that they were looked after was very important to us.
Now I’m back home I have the exhausting and never ending job of gardening to do. The grass in the back garden is at least 2 feet high. Not good.

I’m on leave this week. Yippeee! Not going any where, but I do have gardening and painting to be getting on with. And putting my feet up. And chilling.
I’ve got a nice package of leave. I’ve got the company 25 days and then I’ve been able to buy an extra 6 days. It means that I’ve been able to get a week off every month from May to September inclusive.
Went down to Somerset last month for a week. Couldn’t get any internet access though. Real bummer. But had great holiday. Had some gorgeous sunshine. Heard it was raining back home though. Everyone was saying how refreshed I looked when I went back to work. Funny that. 🙂
I love having time off. Trouble is I could get used to it. Very easily.
Just been on holiday, but it’s back to the grind on Monday.
Had a lovely week down Somerset but couldn’t get any internet connection. Went on one of those cheap Sun holidays at a well known park. Great for kids. Entertainment is great for the kids. The adult entertainment is also more suitable for the kids.
The customer service is not good. We’ve seen a family complaining only to be told: ‘This is what it is. You accept it or you can have your money back and go home.’ We’ve seen people throwing out soiled mattresses as well. I empty the cupboards as soon as we get there and wash everything. I’ve never seen so many food stains on crocks.
We went for breakfast buffet on the day we were leaving, and couldn’t believe the mess. The food was all open with flies swarming around. The breakfast cereal was all over the table and in the sugar. There was a big tank of milk where the handle and the spout were covered with stale and solid milk residue. At the toaster people were picking up bread to see if it was soft, and putting it back if it wasn’t. So they were handling the bread that other people may have wanted. There were ladles with the hot food at least.
The assistants were removing plates but were there was no one watching over the food. It reminded me of a kids birthday party where the toddlers love putting their fingers in the jelly and trifle, and love playing with the cakes before they get something to eat.
On Thursday we had went for the lunch buffet. It wasn’t a mess. It was nicely set out. It consisted of a few salads – pasta, potato – with dishes of cucumber, and cheese. There were some long rolls and butter. The hot food was sausage and chips. This was a buffet. We made sure we ate our full.
Now it’s all back to normal and being at home and work again on Monday.
